The 2014 SCIMP annual conference was held on the 28th and 29th October at Crieff Hydro Hotel. The conference was attend by around 160 delegates and exhibitors from a varied range of Health Service professionals and suppliers including GP’s, Practice Managers, NHS Board IT Facilitators, Nurses, Allied Health Professionals as well as staff from the Scottish Government and National Services Scotland. This year we also had the pleasure of our colleagues from NHS Wales and NHS England as guest plenary speakers.

Tuesday 28th October
Dr Ian Thompson, Chair of SCIMP Conference 2014 opened the conference and introduced the first plenary speaker, Dr Gregor Smith, Senior Medical Adviser within the Primary Care Division, Scottish Government who delivered a very interesting presentation on working towards the 20/20 Vision.
This was then followed by Stream 1 of the planned parallel sessions. (Details of the presentations noted below). After the interval, Kemi Adenubi, Programme Director of Primary Care IT, NHS Health and Social Care Information Centre, delivered to the group an interesting discussion on GP Systems of Choice, which involved some interaction from the attendees. This was followed by Stream 2 of the planned parallel sessions.
After lunch Dr Martin Murphy, NWIS, provided a presentation to the attendees on “The Welsh Experience” which was well received.
After an interval Stream 3 and 4 took place with the day concluding at 5pm.
A drinks reception, which was sponsored by Perth & Kinross Council, was held at 19:00 this was followed by the Conference Dinner and some ceilidh dancing.
Wednesday 29th October
Dr Ian Thompson welcomed everyone to day two of the conference and introduced Dr Annette Gilmour, NHS Trust North West London Hospitals, who delivered a presentation on Data Quality in GP Systems.
This was followed by Stream 5 of the planned parallel sessions, then after the morning break Dr Sameer Patel, NHS Lanarkshire, provided a presentation on Closing the Loop Outcomes.
Prior to attendees joining Stream 6 of the planned parallel sessions, Dr Ian Thompson announced the winner of the prize which was donated by Crieff Hydro.
Thereafter, Dr Ian Thompson closed the conference by thanking all of the delegates for attending, the plenary and parallel sessions presenters for their time and effort in the preparation and presentation of their sessions, the exhibitors for their time and involvement and the hotel staff for the excellent facilities and catering.
